Signs of electrical wiring issues to note

Recognizing the signs of electrical wiring problems early can save property owners from costly repairs and dangerous situations. An annual or biennial electrical inspection is central to keeping your property safe and compliant with local codes and regulations. Still, keep your senses peeled for the following signs of trouble:

  • Frequent Circuit Breaker Trips: Frequent trips indicate that the system is being pushed beyond its capacity, which could be a sign of faulty wiring or an overburdened circuit.
  • Flickering or Dimming Lights: Lights that flicker or dim when appliances are turned on may signal an overloaded circuit or loose wiring connections.
  • Warm or Discolored Outlets and Switches: These are often signs of arcing, which can lead to electrical fires if not corrected.
  • Buzzing or Crackling Sounds: Unusual sounds emanating from outlets, switches, or electrical panels suggest that there may be a loose connection or damaged wiring.
  • Burning Smell or Smoke: This typically means that wires are overheating and could potentially ignite a fire. Immediate action, including shutting off the power and contacting an electrician, is necessary.
  • Outdated Wiring: Homes and buildings with wiring that is several decades old may not meet current safety standards.

If your electrical wiring in Hollywood Park is giving you reason to worry, then call Mr. Electric to have a local electrician dispatched to your home or business as soon as possible. Our team is here to take your call or message today.

When to have your home or business rewired

Whole house electrical wiring in Hollywood Park is a significant undertaking, but it is sometimes necessary to ensure the safety and functionality of your electrical system. Let’s touch on 4 common reasons it might be time to rewire your electrical system.

First and foremost is safety. If an inspection reveals extensive issues such as exposed wiring, improper installations, or signs of electrical damage, then a whole house rewiring may be the best solution to ensure comprehensive safety and reliability.

Then, there’s the age of the property. Buildings over 40 years old are likely to have outdated wiring that does not meet modern safety standards.

Third is efficiency and effectiveness. If you experience frequent power outages or notice that certain areas of your property have unreliable power, it might be a sign of underlying wiring issues.

Finally, there’s the case of renovations and upgrades. Major renovations that involve altering the structure or layout of a property often require an upgrade to the electrical system. This ensures that the new design can handle the electrical load and that wiring is safely integrated into the remodeled spaces.

Electrical wiring is work best left to trained and certified electrical wiring contractors. Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
