Electrical Outlet Replacement in Selma, TX

Electrical outlets line the walls of homes and businesses, providing occupants with a safe and reliable supply of electricity. Whether it’s to charge your phone or power your appliances, the electrical outlet installation is fundamental. As simple and durable as they are, electrical outlets are sadly susceptible to wear and tear, accidental damage, and electrical fault. The good news is that electrical outlet repair or even an electrical outlet replacement in Selma, TX is one call away. Contact Mr. Electric to schedule an appointment or request urgent assistance.

How Do Electrical Outlets Work?

Understanding how electrical outlets work can help you detect when they are in need of repair or replacement. Electrical outlets work by providing a connection point for electrical devices to plug into the electrical wiring of a building, and they consist of key components:

  • The outlet receptacle, or the part of the outlet where devices are plugged in.
  • The wiring terminals, or the terminals where the electrical wiring is connected.
  • The grounding, or wire that provides a path for excess electrical current to safely dissipate to the ground.
  • The outlet box, or a protective outlet box that is mounted to the wall or embedded in it.

When everything is working properly, electrical outlets provide a safe and reliable way to power electrical devices. However, several things can go wrong with electrical outlets, leading to safety hazards or malfunction.

Common Electrical Outlet Issues

Your electrical outlet installation in Selma can act up in a number of ways, and you should be able to detect these common electrical outlet issues if you want to intervene promptly. Here are some things to watch out for:

  • Overloading: Plugging too many devices into a single outlet or using devices that draw a high amount of current can overload the outlet and cause overheating.
  • Loose Connections: Over time, the connections between the outlet and the electrical wiring can become loose due to temperature changes or from repeated plugging and unplugging of devices.
  • Short Circuits: If the hot (live) wire comes into contact with the neutral wire or the grounding wire, it can create a short circuit. This can cause sparks, tripped circuit breakers, or electrical fires.
  • Ground Faults: A ground fault happens when the hot wire comes into contact with a grounded surface, like a metal conduit or plumbing fixture. This can cause excessive current to flow through the grounding system, leading to electrical shock or equipment damage.

Regularly inspecting outlets, distributing electrical loads onto multiple circuits, and installing GFCI outlets are just some steps you can take to protect your electrical outlets. If your electrical outlets are sparking, hot to the touch, or otherwise not working properly, then call Mr. Electric to arrange an electrical outlet repair in Selma.

When to Upgrade Your Electrical Outlets

Electrical outlets can last 10, 15, or even 25 years. Eventually, however, you will have to consider an electrical outlet replacement. Whether it’s to upgrade to smart electrical outlets or simply renew an existing one, replacements should be performed carefully. If you’d like to hire a certified electrician, then call Mr. Electric and schedule a convenient appointment or request urgent assistance.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system. Photo of our new circuit breaker panel.
