Electrical Panel Replacement in Alamo Heights, TX

At Mr. Electric, we offer a wide selection of professional services for local property owners including electrical panel repair, circuit breaker installation, and electrical panel replacement in Alamo Heights, Texas, and surrounding areas. Whether you need a routine inspection, a fuse box upgrade, or an emergency repair service, our dedicated team has the knowledge and expertise to ensure your electrical system is hazard-free and energy efficient.

Understanding How Your Electrical Panel Works

Your electrical panel serves as a central hub where the incoming electricity is divided into different circuits, each protected by a circuit breaker. Circuit breakers are your home's secret protectors, springing into action and severing the power supply whenever there's an electrical hiccup like an overload or a short circuit.

Signs That You Need an Electrical Panel Repair or Replacement

Recognizing the signs that you may need a repair or new circuit breaker installation is important for maintaining your home's safety. Here are some common signs to look out for:

  • Frequent Tripping: If your circuit breakers trip frequently, it could be a sign that your electrical panel can't handle the current load. It may be time for an upgrade.
  • Outdated Panel: Still living with a fuse box or a retro, out-of-date panel? It's wise to consider an upgrade to a modern unit that aligns with current safety standards.
  • Visible Damage: Any signs of physical damage, like corrosion, burnt marks, or frayed wires, could signal that your panel needs immediate attention.
  • Flickering Lights: If lights dim or flicker when other appliances are turned on, it could be due to an overloaded panel.

DIY vs Professional Service: The Safety and Complexity of Panel Replacement

While DIY projects can save money, some tasks should be left to the professionals, especially when it comes to your home's electrical system. Replacing an electrical panel involves working directly with high-voltage wires, which can be hazardous if not handled correctly.

Electrical Panel Replacement in Alamo Heights, TX

Professional electricians have the training and experience necessary to handle such tasks safely. They understand the local codes and regulations, ensuring the work is up to standard and your home is safe. Professional electricians also have the right tools and can properly diagnose the condition of your panel. They can determine whether it needs a complete replacement or if a simple repair could suffice. Replacing an electrical panel isn't a DIY-friendly task due to its complexity and potential dangers.

Maintenance After Replacement

After a new circuit breaker installation, regular maintenance is essential. This includes checking for signs of wear or damage, testing circuit breakers, and ensuring the panel area remains free of debris and dust. Scheduled inspections by a professional electrician can help identify potential issues early, ensuring your panel remains in good working order for years to come.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
