The Risks of Ignoring a Faulty Electrical Panel

Ignoring a faulty electrical panel isn't just a minor annoyance; it can lead to serious hazards such as electrical fires or damage to your appliances. Old or malfunctioning panels may struggle to distribute power evenly, leading to frequent power outages or even sparking dangerous electrical surges. As our homes become more technology-intensive, an outdated panel might fail to cope with the increased power demands, thereby pushing the system beyond its safe limits.

Signs Your Electrical Panel Needs Replacement

  • Frequent Circuit Breaker Trips - One of the first signs of a panel that needs attention is a circuit breaker that frequently trips. This can occur when the electrical load surpasses the panel's capacity, causing it to cut off power as a safety measure. If you notice your circuit breaker is tripping more often than it used to, it's time to consider a replacement.
  • Flickering or Dimming Lights - When your lights start flickering or dimming, it could be a sign that your electrical panel is struggling to distribute power adequately. This is often due to increased power demand in your home, and it can put a strain on your electrical system.
  • Old or Outdated Panels - Electrical panels have a lifespan of around 20 to 30 years. If your home's panel is nearing or beyond this age range, or if it's a now-obsolete model, it's probably time for a replacement. If you're experiencing issues such as inconsistent power or breaker trips, and your panel is old, these issues are likely related.
  • Addition of High-Powered Appliances - If you've recently upgraded your appliances or added high-powered equipment to your home, your old panel may not be equipped to handle the increased load. In such cases, an electrical panel replacement in Boerne becomes necessary to ensure a dependable and safe power supply.

Upgrading Your Electrical Panel for Improved Capacity and Safety

Now that you know the signs of a failing electrical panel, let's talk about upgrades. When you invest in a fuse box upgrade or circuit breaker installation, you're not only resolving the current issues but also preparing your home for future power needs. Newer allow you to add more circuits and accommodate more high-powered appliances. It can also significantly improve the safety of your home. Modern panels come with better safety features and improved designs that lower the risk of electrical fires and surges. They can also increase the value of your property, particularly if you're considering selling in the near future.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system. Photo of our new circuit breaker panel.
