Electrical Panel Replacement in Timberwood Park, TX

Do you ever wonder how all of that electricity travels into your home or business to power your devices? If you’re like most homeowners, then probably so. The electrical system is a core part of your building, and the electrical panel is its central hub. If your electrical panel installation in Timberwood Park is faulty or damaged, then you can expect issues in other parts of the electrical system. On this page, we’ll share some signs that you need electrical panel repair. If you are looking for certified electricians, you can call Mr. Electric to hire experienced and regularly trained professionals.

What Is the Electrical Panel, and What Does it Do?

The electrical panel installation, also known as the distribution board, is a gray panel box usually found in the garage or utility room. Open the lid and you will notice rows of switches, or fuses if you have a fuse box.

Those rows are each associated with an electrical circuit in your building. When electricity comes into your property, it is distributed by the electrical panel to the many circuits. If there is ever any unusual electrical activity in a particular circuit, then the electrical panel will cut power to that respective circuit. This is a safety feature meant to protect your electrical system as well as the devices and appliances connected to it.

The Difference Between Circuit Breakers and Fuse Boxes

We briefly mentioned it earlier, but it’s worth emphasizing. Some electrical panels have rows of switches and others have fuses. In a circuit breaker installation, you will find switches, and a fuse box will have fuses. They both qualify as an electrical panel, but their mechanism is a little different.

In a circuit breaker box, unusual electrical activity will trigger a switch to cut off power to an electrical circuit. In a fuse box, the respective fuse will blow out in order to stop the flow of electricity.

As you can imagine, constantly replacing the fuse box is time-consuming and costly. It is also less safe than a circuit breaker installation, which is why many homeowners with old buildings are advised to get a fuse box upgrade. Many insurance providers even offer incentives to upgrade from a fuse box to a circuit breaker box.

Signs of a Faulty Electrical Panel

So, how do you know your electrical panel is faulty or damaged? For beginners, get in the habit of inspecting it. Look for frayed wires, loose connections, and other physical damage. Scorch marks, hot plates, and the smell of burning are RED FLAGS! A more subtle sign of a faulty electrical panel is flickering or dimming lights. Finally, if your circuit breaker is constantly tripping, then don’t force it back on each time. There might be an underlying issue.

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
