Surge Protection Installation in Alamo Heights, TX

Electricity is an incredibly powerful and unpredictable element. Despite the efforts of electrical engineers and electricians to control and manage this element, the wiring and electrical components in our homes are vulnerable to a host of electrical issues. These can lead to power surges which pose serious risks.

These sudden increases in voltage during a power surge can cause significant damage to electrical devices and appliances. Fortunately, there's a reliable solution: a surge protection installation.

If you are interested in a whole house surge protection installation in Alamo Heights, then continue reading or call Mr. Electric to consult with a certified electrician. Our team is prepared to dispatch ASAP or schedule an appointment for a convenient time.

What is a surge protector?

Surge protectors are devices designed to protect electrical appliances and equipment from voltage spikes or surges. These surges can happen due to lightning strikes, utility switching, or even internal factors within your home's electrical system.

Surge protectors work by detecting excess voltage and redirecting it safely to the ground in order to prevent damage to connected devices as well as your electrical system. This process happens almost instantaneously so you have immediate protection against power surges.

Why surge protectors are worth it

For those who work from home or rely on electronic devices for storing important data, a power surge can be disastrous. Power surges can damage or even destroy your computers, televisions, refrigerators, and HVAC systems. Power surges can even cause electrical fires if they overload the wiring in your home.

Even if the surges are not severe, repeated exposure to small surges can wear down the internal components of your electronics over time.

A whole house power surge protector installation not only protects your appliances, devices, and electronics, but it also helps maximize the lifespan of your things. Most importantly, a surge protector keeps your home or business safe from electrical fires, electrocutions, and similar threat to your wellbeing.

Hire certified electricians for the job

Installing surge protectors involves technical considerations to ensure effective protection. For one, surge protectors must be installed at the electrical panel for whole-house protection or at specific outlets to protect individual devices. Proper wiring and grounding are essential.

Further, surge protectors come with different ratings (measured in joules) that indicate their capacity to absorb and dissipate energy. Choosing the right surge protector depends on the specific needs and electrical load of your home.

Finally, the installation must comply with local electrical codes and regulations to ensure safety and effectiveness. This is all reason to hire a certified electrician with plenty of experience, the right tools, and a solid understanding of legal requirements.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
