Surge Protection Installation in Boerne, TX

Electricity is one of modern life's most significant conveniences. It powers our homes, gadgets, appliances, and computerized systems. With this convenience comes responsibility, though. Our electrical systems are susceptible to many threats, and one of the most common yet underestimated dangers is a power surge.

While you might think of power surges as rare and catastrophic events caused by lightning strikes, the reality is that even minor surges can occur daily and often unnoticed. Over time, these small spikes can take a toll on your home’s electronics and appliances. That’s where a whole house power surge protector installation comes in to provide comprehensive protection.

If you are interested in protecting your electrical system, electronics, and appliances against power surges, then continue reading or call Mr. Electric to learn more about our surge protection installation in Boerne, TX.

What is a whole house surge protector?

A whole house surge protector is a device installed at your electrical panel that works like a shield for your home’s electrical system. When excess voltage threatens your wiring, outlets, or connected devices, the surge protector steps in to redirect the surge before it causes harm.

Unlike point-of-use surge protectors like those power strips you might plug into an outlet, a whole house surge protector guards every electrical device in your home. This includes your HVAC system, refrigerator, computers, televisions, and even your home automation gadgets.

Everyday power surges can add up

Many people assume power surges are always caused by lightning, but most surges are much smaller and more frequent. These minor but significant surges can be caused by downed power lines, electrical grid switching, and even turning on heavy-duty appliances like air conditioners or dryers.

These daily surges might not immediately "fry" your devices, but they wear down sensitive electronics over time. This can result in premature failures and unnecessarily early replacements.

Protect your high-value investments

Think about the cost of replacing a high-efficiency refrigerator, a home entertainment system, or even smaller gadgets like your laptop or phone. The price of a surge protection installation pales in comparison to those costs.

Protect against the ultimate cost

While rare, lightning strikes near your home can unleash a massive voltage spike that wreaks havoc on unprotected electrical systems. This immense energy can fry wires and even cause electrical fires. By managing excess voltage, a surge protector helps maintain a safer home environment.

When to consider a surge protector

Everyone can benefit from a surge protector, but there are cases that demand more immediate attention. A whole house surge protector is a smart investment for any home, but it’s especially important if:

  • You have expensive electronics or appliances,
  • You’ve experienced flickering lights or frequent breaker trips,
  • You live in an area with frequent storms or power outages, or
  • You’re upgrading your home’s electrical system.

You don’t have to make an immediate investment. Call or message Mr. Electric to consult with a certified electrician to learn about our services as well as our prices and fees.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
