Surge Protection Installation in Canyon Lake, TX

It’s an all-too-common scenario: one moment your TV hums softly in the background, the fridge hums along, and you’re charging your phone, then a brief flicker, a faint buzz, and the devices you depend on daily are suddenly in panic mode and shut off. This is the unassuming yet destructive power of a surge.

Power surges, those sudden spikes in voltage that race through your electrical system, can cause significant damage to your appliances, electronics, and even your electrical wiring. Whether you’re a homeowner or a business owner in Canyon Lake, TX, protecting your property from surges with a surge protection installation can offer a priceless peace of mind and save you from hundreds or thousands of dollars in damages.

Continue reading or call Mr. Electric to learn more about the power of a surge protection installation in Canyon Lake. Our live representatives and dedicated electricians are always ready to help.

What is a power surge anyway?

A power surge is a brief but intense increase in electrical voltage within your home or business's electrical system. These surges can occur for various reasons.

The first thing that probably comes to mind is lightning strikes, but these are actually rare. The more common culprits are right in your home. Everyday activities such as turning on high-powered appliances like air conditioners or refrigerators can create small and repeated surges over time.

Of course, fluctuations at the utility provider’s facility can also have an effect. Power grid adjustments or malfunctions can create surges that flow into your property.

The risks of power surges

Power surges can wreak havoc on virtually every aspect of your electrical system by frying appliances, electronics, and electrical wiring. Even minor surges can degrade your equipment and shorten its lifespan. Over time, the cumulative damage can add up and leave you with repair or replacement bills you didn’t see coming.

The stakes are especially high for businesses. Downtime caused by fried office equipment or compromised servers can lead to lost revenue and frustrated customers. Fortunately, you don’t have to risk dealing with these problems.

Shielding your whole property from power surges

While plug-in surge protectors provide basic protection, they’re not designed to handle large surges or cover an entire property. That’s where a whole house power surge protector installation comes in. Installed directly into your electrical panel, these devices act as a first line of defense to block or redirect excess voltage before it can damage your home or business. They are built to handle high-voltage surges caused by lightning or power grid issues.

Why hire a certified electrician?

Installing a whole-house surge protector is NOT a DIY job. It requires expertise, specialized tools, and knowledge of your property’s electrical system. Working with your electrical panel can be dangerous and requires compliance with local building codes and regulations. Plus, insurance providers can reject damage claims if they discover such DIY work.

Why deal with such risks when hiring a certified electrician is quick and affordable? Mr. Electric is proud to offer flat-rate and upfront pricing. We even regularly share special discounts and coupons on our website to make our services that much more accessible.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system. Photo of our new circuit breaker panel.
