Surge Protection Installation in Castle Hills, TX

Power surges can be instantaneous but their consequences are often severe and long-lasting. Imagine your home appliances are running smoothly or your business equipment is humming along without a hitch, and then – bam! – a power surge strikes. In a split second, your TV at home or your business’s servers could be fried.

Whether you’re a homeowner or a business owner, a surge protection installation in Castle Hills, TX can be a valuable investment that pays for itself. Continue reading or call Mr. Electric to learn how surge protectors can protect your property and your bottom line.

What are power surges and what causes them?

A power surge is a sudden and brief spike in voltage that flows through your electrical system. This extra voltage can overload circuits, damage sensitive electronics, and even compromise your wiring. While lightning strikes are the first culprit that comes to mind, power surges can happen for several reasons.

Malfunctions or adjustments in the grid, for example, can send extra voltage through the lines and into your property. More subtly, high-powered devices like HVAC systems or industrial machinery cycling on and off can generate smaller but repetitive surges that wear down your system over time.

The silent and severe costs of power surges

Power surges often result in power outages, but these phenomena are more than an inconvenience; they can wreak havoc on your home or business. Common risks include:

  • Damaged Electronics
  • Fried Machinery
  • Operational Downtime
  • Electrical Fires
  • Electrocutions

For business owners, downtime caused by a surge can lead to lost revenue and frustrated customers. For homeowners, the cost of replacing appliances or dealing with a fire could drain your savings. In short, everyone can benefit from a surge protection installation.

A Comprehensive Solution: Whole house surge protector

The good news is that you can protect your home or business with a whole-house (or whole-business) surge protector. These devices are installed at the electrical panel and serve as a first line of defense to redirect excess voltage before it can reach your outlets, appliances, and machinery.

A whole house power surge protector installation is much more effective and reliable than point-of-use surge protectors like those specialized extension cords. While those protectors are limited in capacity, whole house protectors are designed to handle surges of all sizes from minor fluctuations to major lightning strikes.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system. Photo of our new circuit breaker panel.
