Surge Protection Installation in Cibolo, TX

Electricity is one of the greatest modern conveniences. It helps us power everything from lights and appliances to our most precious electronics. However, despite the progress made by engineers and electricians, electrical systems are still vulnerable to sudden disruptions.

One of the most common threats to your electrical equipment is a power surge. Whether you realize it or not, these spikes in voltage can be devastating to your wiring, appliances, and electronics.

Fortunately, there’s a simple yet effective solution: a whole house power surge protector installation. Call Mr. Electric or continue reading to learn more about our services in Cibolo, TX.

What are power surges and how do they happen?

A power surge is a sudden and brief spike in the electrical current that flows through your home’s wiring. These surges can happen in the blink of an eye, and their causes vary.

One of the most powerful sources of power surges comes from nature itself. When lightning strikes nearby power lines or even directly hits a building, it can send a massive surge of electricity through your home’s wiring system.

Sometimes, power surges are caused by issues with the local power grid. This can happen during switching operations, faulty equipment, or when power is restored after an outage. When your utility company does maintenance or upgrades on the grid, it can sometimes cause voltage fluctuations that travel into your home.

Another common cause of power surges comes from within your own home. Faulty electrical wiring, outdated appliances, or the sudden switching on or off of high-powered devices can create surges.

The dangers of power surges

Power surges may seem like minor disruptions, but they can have serious consequences for your home’s electrical system and your valuable devices. In fact, a single surge can be enough to fry delicate components in devices like televisions, computers, refrigerators, and even air conditioning units.

When a power surge causes damage, you’re not just looking at replacing your devices; you could also be left with costly repairs to your home’s wiring or circuit boards. In some cases, the cost of replacing damaged electronics and repairing the wiring can add up quickly.

How a whole house surge protector works

So, how can you protect your home from these dangers? The answer lies in a whole house surge protection installation. This device is installed directly into your home’s electrical panel and is designed to defend against all sorts of power surges.

Surge Protection Installation in Cibolo, TX

A whole house surge protector works by redirecting the excess electrical current to the ground. When a surge occurs, the protector detects the spike and sends the extra electricity away from your appliances and wiring.

Leave the installation to the pros

Surge protectors need to be wired correctly into your electrical panel for them to work effectively. A certified electrician has the knowledge and expertise to ensure your surge protection installation in Cibolo is proper. Plus, installing electrical equipment like surge protectors requires compliance with local building codes and regulations.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
